You don’t install it right, so what would you call it?
Thats not what I meant by the question.

When you put in an ink cartridge, is it considered installing one, or is it called something else…

My black cartridge is full (90), but my printer uses ink from color cartridges (73) and black remains full.

I have just bought a new black ink cartridge, and I am just wondering how many pages roughly that I should be able to get out of it before it runs out.
Thanks to all that answer.

I have traded it a lot of empty ink cartridges to staples and I use the coupons to buy many small items at Staples for just a few pennies after the coupon. I really doubt that some recycle company will pay Staples $3 or more for every catridge that I have turned in. The coupon has a potential to offer a 100% discount off many items in the store. How can this ink recycling program be financially beneficial to Staples?

My Canon ip4300 uses the 5PGBK and the 8BK cartridges, both black. I don’t really care that one is more black or whatever the difference is. The 5PGBK tank is low and the other one hasn’t been touched, so obviously it’s been printing from only the one tank. How do I get the printer to utilize the other tank? The Preferences and Help files of course have been no help…
OK, that helps to clarify. Is there a way I can tell the printer to use the photo black instead of the everyday black? It does a very nice job, but I don’t do much glossy/photo work.

It is a photo-quality printer with one black cartridge and three color cartridges.

This is my pet peeve. When I install a new cartridge it prints out the calibration sheet no matter what I do — even when I indicate I have one. It is offensive that the company that produces and sells the ink forces you to use it this way — and in color, yet! Can I make this go away — forever? Is this the same with other companies? Maybe I should stop buying HP printers.

What is the volume in milliliters of the ink in the canon ink cartridges for iP1000 (Canon BCI-24 - Black Ink Cartridge Bci24B) and iP1300 (Canon PG-40 40 black ink cartridge PG40)?
What is the volume in milliliters of the ink in the canon ink cartridges for iP1000 (Canon BCI-24 - Black Ink Cartridge Bci24B) and iP1300 (Canon PG-40 40 black ink cartridge PG40)?
I am asking this question because my brother is giving me one of his printers, either a canon iP1000 or a canon iP1300. The ink for the iP1000 is one-third the cost of that of the iP1300.I want to know which is cheaper the maintain since I have a lot of documents to print and I want to save if possible due to financial constraints.
